Seems like Yukon Czech Hall's been in the news a lot this Oktoberfest month! Frank and I attended its October 4 celebration, where the Bohemian Knights band featured OAC member Milo Shedeck (in the chicken hat). He met his wife Lucy (right) at the Hall. We're lucky that, despite this month being most demanding on our gigging players, we'll have plenty of talent at our monthly meeting, October 12 @3:30 PM at Messiah Lutheran Church on NW Expressway at Portland Ave., OKC. Speaking of gigs, Irene Bookbinder of the northeast contingent of squeezeboxers, reports that Tulsa Accordion Band garnered seven gigs so far this month, plus two members will be playing at local Oktoberfest-ivities. Happy to report that former OAC member Colleen Rettman (right), whom you recall often attended the club with her late husband, made the scene with us. All the kids were especially decked out! Read on in this newsletter for more pix and to get the skinny on the upcoming National Accordion Conference happening this spring in Forney, Texas. - xoxo Maggie

To me, October is one of the most exciting months of the year. It's polka and waltz time. What instrument plays polkas and waltzes better then an accordion? Oktoberfest is an annual festival held in Germany each year. It started in 1810 and has continued to grow in popularity ever since. Many states will be hosting Oktoberfest parties and festivals. Our own Bohemian Knights under the direction of OAC member Milo Shedeck will play in the OKC Fair Park October 11th, 2025, from noon to 3:00 PM. (Check out the 3-day event that hopefully will be an annual event at the OKC Fair Park.) Yes, there'll be an accordion playing with the Bohemian Knights. Check out your favorite brewery as well. Many of them are having OKTOBER- FEST parties. Grab your accordion and join me in playing the Beer Barrel Polka. I'll see you all at Oklahoma Accordion Club Oktoberfest party October 12th, 2025, at Messiah Lutheran Church at Portland and NW Expressway at 3:30 PM. National Accordion Conference (not convention) will be held in Forney, Texas (21 miles east of Dallas), from March 18th to the 21st, 2026. Registrations for the TownePlace Suites are now open. Incidentally if you register now, breakfast will be included. To register go to NAA website. Fee with banquet for accordionists is $200.00. Non-accordionists are $250.00. There are some no risk facts to consider. Reservations will not require payment until March 2026. Reservations may be canceled, and refunds are available. This year's event will mark the 40th
